Award winning artist, Sarah Stifler Lucas, grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1970. She has maintained her studio in Connecticut since 1973, living currently in Stonington.
Well known for her masterfully articulated, provocative interpretations of life, Sarah has been recognized by art collectors nationwide and abroad for her versatile talents and soft, subtle tones that characterize her canvases. Sarah works in oil; her style combines the representational with the abstract.
Besides her figure paintings, café and street scenes, and delicate renditions of children at play, she specializes in commissioned portraits, many of which hang in both public and private collections throughout the United States and abroad.
Sarah’s paintings have been included in many exhibitions, both regional and national. Among her many honors are awards from Allied Artists of America; National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society; Salmagundi Club, NY; New Haven Paint and Clay Club; and Mystic Arts Center.
