Alan James loves to teach, and his teaching style is both easy-going and comprehensive. Many of his students have gone on to become successful artists in their own right.
While mostly self-taught, Alan has attended workshops of Alvaro Castagnet and studied the great watercolor masters: Joseph Zbukvic, Herman Pekel, John Yarldley, Edward seago and Edward Wesson extensively.
Alan’s style is impressionistic and traditionalist with emphasis on purity of design and clear, transparent colors.
The art of Alan James captures the very soul of his subjects with passion, boldness and elegance. His paintings are imbued with a mood, a mystery that engage and lure the viewer into the magic.
Alan James’s work is represented at the following galleries: Nantucket Artworks – Nantucket, MA, Trinity Collection – Nantucket, MA, Richard Stravitz Fine Art – Virginia Beach, VA, Maple and Main Fine Art – Chester, CT. Exhibitions: Lyme Art Association – Old Lyme, CT; and Maple and Main – Chester, CT
