Plein Air Painting Group - Public Series
Artists from the Lyme Art Association have a long tradition of plein air painting! There are many wonderful locations featuring landscapes, farms, town views, and marine and seascape locations in and around Old Lyme.
All LAA members are invited to meet at the following public locations. No registration is required.
- Saturday, May 18, 8:30 to noon: Hammonassett State Park (1288 Boston Post Rd, Madison)
- Saturday, June 15, 9 to noon: Locations across Lyme and Old Lyme to prepare studies for Paint the Town (wet paint day) on June 22.
- Saturday, July 20, 9 to noon: DEEP Headquarters (333 Ferry Rd, Old Lyme)

2024 Plein Air Exhibition Date: October 16 – 24
The painting group’s season wraps up each year with a gallery exhibit and critique at the Lyme Art Association in the Fall. Paintings made with the group will be eligible for the exhibit.
Plein Air Painting Group - Subscription Series
Coordinated by Maura Cochan, this friendly and intrepid group meets weekly on Monday mornings to paint outdoors in the spring and summer time. The locations for this series include both private, semi-private and public locations. Registration is required with a nominal charge and is capped at 25 participants.
Session 1: May, June, July. REGISTATION IS FULL.
Session 2: September and October, dates tbd.

Art Is! Thursday Short Pose Monitored Session
Monitor: Joann Ballinger
Thursdays, 9 am – 12 pm, ongoing.
Fees: $140 for each ten weeks (class is ongoing), $20 for walk-ins.

Come join this friendly monitored painting group. Paint or draw from a live model in a relaxed atmosphere every Thursday. This figure painting group is for artists who can work without formal instruction, in the medium of their choice, and who can benefit working from a live model. Poses are a mixture of gesture, 20 and 40 minutes.
