This course is designed for those who have little or no experience in watercolor, however all levels are welcome.  Students will focus on getting comfortable with watercolor painting techniques and enjoying the process.  The basics of materials, tools, techniques, how to mix and apply color, which brushes to use, understanding value and “seeing” your subject along with simple drawing skills necessary to create a painting will be explored.

Working with a bright color palette, students will learn color theory as it applies to color mixing and will create their own keepsake color chart in the process. Students will also gain confidence and skill through comprehensive teacher demonstrations, individual instruction, and hands-on exercises while developing their own personal style. Techniques that will be studied include brush control, applying flat and gradated washes, layering color to create form and lifting paint to interpret light and space. Composition and value will be addressed through quick studies.

This course is designed to be fun and inspirational and will focus on how to relax and enjoy the process of watercolor painting while learning the basic watercolor techniques for success.
