Add unity, balance, and harmony to your paintings while learning to paint an elegant still life. Rachele Nyssen’s work is known for its beautiful palette, with its lovely chromatic grays, and rich jewel-like colors. Her work incorporates elements of luminous bright light with dark mysterious shadows. There is a feeling of subtlety and quiet to her paintings.

Class size limited to assure individual attention. Rachele Nyssen will help participants gain a clear understanding of the Art of Still Life Painting through one on one tuition, informal group discussions and demonstrations. This course is designed to help artists of all levels elevate their paintings and refine their painting skills. Working from life, under natural north light, each participant will participate in composing their own still life arrangement with Rachele’s guidance. Using the sight size method, to better train the artist eyes for accuracy, we will complete a series of studies designed to reinforce the principals being presented during the course. Each student will then progress to a more finished painting.
Participants will learn:

  • How to create luminous light and mysterious shadow
  • How to add depth, beauty and elegance to their current paintings.
  • The essential elements of Composition, Unity, and Balance.
  • How to organize the palette for success

Demos and discussions will include:

  • Creating a visual concept to aid in the finished work.
  • Techniques and skills to add strength, structure and design.
  • Materials choice and handling.
  • Color mixing strategies and brush handling skills.

Rachele will provide insightful and thorough demonstrations. She will work individually with each student daily. Artists of all levels will benefit from this workshop and will be given skills they can further practice to bring their work to a new level.
