The Museum has assembled works from the artists who presented work in the 1921 inaugural exhibit in the gallery and presented them with informational signage that touches on the connection and importance of each artist to the original colony and to the new Lyme Art Association. Noted artist Stapleton Kearns will give an oil painting demonstration on May 18th, 3:00 PM at the Lyme Art Association. A former president of the Rockport Art Association and member of the Guild of Boston Artists, Stapleton Kearns has been a full-time painter for fifty years. He will explain the materials and a little about the logic of creating traditional landscapes while making a painting in front of the audience. While learning artists will find this useful, Stapleton is entertaining enough that non-artist should enjoy the show as well. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Lyme Art Association and The Hudson Valley Art Association's 88th Annual Juried Exhibition.
The Lyme Art Association is a vibrant art center with a gallery where professional as well as developing artists mount major exhibitions throughout the year.
We also have a busy schedule of affordable art classes and workshops. Visit the historic Lyme Art Association on your next visit to Old Lyme CT where art lives!
