November 19, 2021 - January 2, 2022 at the Lyme Art Association
The natural world of the Connecticut River Valley has seen great changes over the past four centuries. The Connecticut River Museum is partnering with the Lyme Art Association for an exhibit that uses art as our guide to the changes in our natural world. Hands on the Land: Art and the Environment in the Connecticut River Valley is a collaborative exhibit showcasing 40 works of art that speak to human impact on the land.
A Century of Inspiration, our summer exhibition, is an all-member show that will explore the connections between our artists and the original Lyme Art Colony artists who formed the Lyme Art Association.
Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Lyme Art Association's historic gallery on August 7 with three special events! Enjoy fun for the whole family at Tea Day, watch our artists at work at Wet Paint on Lyme Street, and party like it's 1921 while helping save our skylights at the Centennial Frolic. 1920s costumes are encouraged! RSVP here for the Frolic
This year the Lyme Art Association is celebrating the 100th anniversary of our historic gallery. We are asking young artists to look back at the work of the original art colony for inspiration. Landscapes, gardens, mountain laurels in bloom, bridges, rivers, porch scenes, portraits … these would all be great subjects for this show! We invite all young artists ages 5 to 18 to participate in this exciting exhibit. Learn more and download the entry form.
As we proudly celebrate the first hundred years of the Lyme Art Association gallery, we continue the work towards equipping the building for its second century of serving our community of artists and art lovers.
This year, we kick off the next phase of the Second Century capital project: replacing the skylights with new, insulated units, insulating the floor of the attic, and installing insulated laylights above the ceiling. This will stabilize the environment, making energy-efficient heating and cooling a reality.
Donors to the Skylight Project are invited to the Centennial Frolic on August 7 from 5 - 7 pm.
The Lyme Art Association is a vibrant art center with a gallery where professional as well as developing artists mount major exhibitions throughout the year.
We also have a busy schedule of affordable art classes and workshops. Visit the historic Lyme Art Association on your next visit to Old Lyme CT where art lives!
