Plein Air Painting Experience with Howard Park

Gather your friends for a delightful day of Plein Air painting!

This fun day is appropriate for any level of experience. The day includes a demo by the artist, a guided lesson for up to six people, and a $200 gift card for a picnic lunch from Coffee’s Country Market. At the end of the day take home your very own landscape painting. All materials provided. The class is designed for adult participants but may include teenagers under adult supervision. The date will be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time and location within one year of the Palate to Palette event.

Howard Park will delight you with his warm personality and impressionistic approach towards painting. He strives for accuracy and truth in his work while using the paint to imply detail, inviting the viewer to collaborate with the artist by filling in details and becoming part of the artistic process. His focus on structure of design, along with color, form, and drawing, creates a unified expression of visual power in his work. His goal is to ignite human imagination and to stimulate thought and emotion by engaging the viewer. Learn more about his approach to teaching:

Commissioned Portrait by Jessica Teti Turgoose

Jessica Turgoose creates impressionistic style magic with pastels. She effectively and beautifully uses the strokes of her pastels to imply actual brushwork, blending colors to create lovely landscapes or to immortalize a figure. She embraces the beauty found in the world around her, whether it is the view over the rooftops of a hillside village, a quaint town’s Main Street decked out with summer flowers, welcoming porches, and flags, or a little girl, waiting in a chair – she strives to capture those every day moments. She achieves a softness with her images, which imparts a peaceful quality to many of her pieces.

Commissioned Boat Portrait by Isabel Lane

Isabel Lane began painting in the open air after too much time studio-bound as a textile designer in NYC. Living most of her life on the Connecticut Shoreline has been her inspiration. She taught art for over 17 years and was the proprietor of the The Little Gallery in Chester. Isabel now works out of her circa-1740 carriage house studio beside the Falls River, primarily as a landscape and marine painter.

Commissioned Animal Portrait by JoAnna Chapin

JoAnna Chapin combines two of her greatest loves, animals and art, in her watercolors of both domestic and wild animals. After a successful career in interior design, an unexpected opportunity to work on a New Mexico ranch caring for abused horses lead her to focus on visual art. She lives and works in Chester and organizes an annual art benefit for the Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue organization.

Commissioned Landscape or House Portrait by Jane Zisk

Jane Zisk is a landscape painter and founder of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society, inspired by the American artists who painted in Old Lyme, Cos Cob, and Branchville in the late 1800s. Jane, who has been an artist for over 30 years, has also worked as a framer for many years at Hartford Framing in East Hartford, CT. Jane sees art as a healing experience and spiritual path, and her paintings are a reflection of nature and its basic elements and archetypal images.

Debbi Goodman, Guernsey Girls, oil

Don’t miss this VERY exciting opportunity to bid on Debbi Goodman’s Guernsey Girls, featured on this year’s Palate to Palette invitation! Debbi is generously donating the proceeds to the Lyme Art Association’s Second Century Campaign to preserve our historic gallery well into its next hundred years. Join other generous donors to our capital campaign and bring home this very special painting. Guernsey Girls is now on view in our New England Landscape exhibition.

Fine Dining Experience at La Foresta Restaurant

Enjoy an evening of fine dining with a $200 gift card to La Foresta Restaurant and Wine Bar in Killingworth. In July of 2014, following over 20 years of restaurant experience in Italy, New York City and New Haven, Francesco Lulaj opened the doors to his biggest wine and food dream yet. With a spectacular menu, and wine list boasting over 1,600 selections and more than 10,000 total bottles, Francesco and staff take great pride in serving you and your family.
