This course introduces the students the basics of drawing beginning with designing the picture plane, to rendering shapes of forms and, eventually, adding value.
This is a systematic approach using simple forms and moving on to more complex objects. Students will learn the basics of composition and symmetry working directly from the Still Life.
Drawing objectives will grow to include value ranges creating a more dimensional space and turning shape into form. Towards the end of the course we will work on toned paper adding some lights and using the value of the paper as a transitional tone. For those who want to add some colors students may also use Sanguine or umber (charcoal) pencils.
