Events of the day include Plein Air painting from dawn to dusk by LAA Members in Lyme & Old Lyme followed by a reception & art show at the Lyme Art Association.
Calling All Plein Air Artists! This Fall on Saturday, September 6, Paint the Town, Lyme Art Association’s plein air event, returns for 2025!
Lyme Art Association (LAA) Members are invited to participate in a day of plein air painting around Lyme & Old Lyme, followed by a celebratory reception and art sale. Jurying from 4:30 – 5:00 pm; awards presentation by 5:15.
Friends of LAA: Join us for the Art Show and celebratory reception at 5 pm! Watch artists paint the town en plein air all day in Lyme and Old Lyme! Then join us that evening from 5 – 7 pm at the Lyme Art Association for an exhibit of their work, hors d’oeuvres, and live music. All art is available for purchase. All net proceeds (after the artist’s share) go to support the programs and exhibits of the Lyme Art Association.

Paint the Town Participating Artist:
(must be an LAA member, price includes 1 reception ticket)

Celebration Reception Ticket:
$10/person
Event Day Schedule:
- Participating artists check in at LAA to pick up a “Participating Artist” sign, complimentary treats and more; check-in start time TBD on Saturday September 6.
- On Sat., Sept. 6, participating artists set-up and paint throughout the day in and around the towns of Old Lyme & Lyme.
- All participating artists arrive by 4 PM with finished & framed artwork to the Lyme Art Association. Artists MUST tape an exhibition tag to the back of their frame.
- Jurying of works from 4:30 – 5:00.
- Celebratory Reception begins at 5:00.
- Awards presented by 5:15.
- Artwork will be displayed for the duration of the reception.
- Each participating artist is given one complimentary ticket to the reception.
