Ode to Joy
open to all members
What brings you joy? Ode to Joy asks artists to consider the things that bring delight. Joy can be found in a person, a place, an object, or in a moment that might otherwise pass unnoticed. It does not necessarily need to be grand or dramatic to matter. This exhibition is about the subjects and moments that make life feel a little brighter and the various ways artists choose to notice them.

An Exhibition in Five Acts

1. Light Across the Land, (open to all members)
2. Stillness: A Still Life, (open to all members)
3. Abstracted, (open to all members)
4. Faces & Figures, (open to all members)
5. Young Artists Show (Animals), (open to youth ages 5 – 18 only)

Light Across the Land: Light has a way of changing a landscape, sometimes from one minute to the next. A familiar view can suddenly look entirely different when the sun breaks through or the day begins to fade. Light Across the Land asks artists to notice those changes and to the role light plays in how we experience a place.

Stillness: A Still Life: The still life tradition has endured for centuries, offering artists a way to find meaning in the quiet arrangement of everyday objects. In Stillness: A Still Life, artists are encouraged to reimagine this timeless genre. This exhibition seeks works that invite viewers to pause, observe, and consider the beauty of the still life genre.

Abstracted: According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, abstraction is the art of pulling away. This exhibition seeks the abstractions of life, images based from reality pulled away into an internal space. Artists who engage in the language of abstraction and nonobjective art making are encouraged to submit works that contemplate materiality, surface, and process.

Faces & Figures: The human form has long been a central subject in art, offering endless possibilities for expression and narrative. Faces and Figures invites artists to explore portraiture and figurative work in all its forms, from realistic depictions to expressive or interpretive approaches. This exhibition welcomes works that capture character, emotion, gesture, and presence, examining how artists represent humanity.

Animals is the theme for the 2027 Young Artists Show. For more info, click here.
