Good composition is vital to the success of any painting. Learn how to recognize the rhythms that interlock shapes and forms into a cohesive whole to create a unified work of art. Discover how to guide the viewer to look at your painting as you intended them to through compositional choices. Students can work from a still life setup or bring a plein air sketch or a good reference photo from which to work.
Highlights include:
* How to strengthen your composition
* How to interpret and translate a photo into a painting
* How to determine value, color and temperature
* How to use the properties of oil paint to maximize desired effects
* How to problem solve in your painting
Mini-demonstrations will be conducted throughout the seven weeks to illustrate the various stages of painting from initial block-in to finish.
