Learning color is both planned and intuitive. Watercolor is a wonderful medium to study color and its complexity. This class uses a limited warm and cool palette and will focus on color mixing, glazing, matching and tonal studies. We will take an intuitive and experimental approach as well as discuss color theory. Each week will focus on specific processes, colors and subjects. Through these studies artists will build experience and understanding of color and how to use it for light-shadow-form, texture, perspective, composition, accuracy and expression necessary for natural science illustration. Subjects will be simple and may include fruit, vegetables, flowers, eggs, seeds, beans, nuts, shells, sticks, leaves, insects, birds and/or feathers, fish, people.

Practice and studies are strongly encouraged during the week.

Prerequisite: Watercolor 1: Process and Techniques class is recommended.
