Art Handler (Contract Position)
Job Description:
The Lyme Art Association is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Art Handler to assist with the safe installation and deinstallation of artwork for exhibitions and events. This position requires a careful and professional approach to artwork handling, ensuring that pieces are displayed securely and in accordance with best practices. Previous experience is preferred but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Safely handle, install, and deinstall artworks for exhibitions and events
• Assist with packing and unpacking artwork
• Hang and arrange artwork according to exhibition layouts
• Maintain gallery spaces by patching and painting walls as needed
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in art handling, museum preparation, or gallery work; preferred, but not required
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully
• Comfortable using hand tools, ladders, and installation equipment
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team-oriented environment
