Atmospheric Curiosity by Edward Alan Lent; poem inspired by Ganesh and Dink at Middle Cove, Essex – Summer Afternoon by Leif Nillson, which was in the show, Red Hot.

Come to the Lyme Art Association for a very special poetry workshop on Saturday, October 4 from 1 – 3 pm, followed by a poetry reading and reception at 4 pm that is open to the public.
Have you ever felt that art is poetry and poetry is art? Learn to write Ekphrastic poetry (poetry based on art) from Edward Lent, poet laureate of Madison and fellow LAA member.
Using LAA’s current exhibitions on view, Edward will provide easy tips and techniques, prompts and practice, so particpants will have 1 to 2 poems ready to be exhibited and read at a free reception for the public, artists and poets that evening at 4 pm. This fun and creative exploration will help people appreciate art in an entirely new way.
Workshop Materials List: For writing their poems, students should bring phones, iPads, laptops, and/or pen and paper, as they will be finishing the poems and printing them out to sticking them on the walls, so they can be viewed on the gallery walls for the 4 pm Poetry reading and reception. Additionally, for the reception, students will to need to have a separate copy of their poem to read from.
