Learn the fundamentals of relief printmaking in this two day workshop. No previous printmaking experience is necessary. Artists will learn how to create reduction linocut prints, a process which involves carving an image out of a linoleum block and hand printing multiple layers.
No materials are needed to participate in this workshop. Attendees will have access to the following supplies while working in the studio:
- Inks (Black, White, Ultramarine, Primrose Yellow, Ruby Red)
- Mounted Linoleum (which attendees may take home at the end of the workshop)
- Brayers
- Printing workstations
- Stonehenge paper
- Linocut tools for carving
Suggested materials to bring: Pencils, sharpie, drawing pad (9×12” or larger)
Landscape reference images will be provided, however, attendees may also use a still life setup of their choice for reference. Artists will leave this workshop with a small edition of prints that successfully utilize an understanding of composition, color, and form.
Workshop will include a 1 hour lunch break.
