This course will focus on drawing techniques and the development of observation skills with charcoal, carbon and graphite. Students will develop both technical abilities and creative responses to material and subject matter. Course will include creating form and structure, tone and texture, line and shape, perspective drawing, and a class devoted to the study of the structure of the head for future portrait work. Students will be encouraged to work outside of class in their sketchbooks.

For all levels – no prior experience in drawing required. Those with experience will be given a platform to further develop their skills that will enhance their painting and drawing practice. Weekly teacher demos will be given.
