This class is designed for those new to oil painting as well as intermediate levels. We will start by making color recipes found in nature that will be referred to throughout the class. Composition and how to choose a strong reference image are explored, followed up by making small color studies of modern and historical works in a limited palette (learn how to apply the paint to the canvas, compose your painting and understand value structure). Landscape paintings, 12 x 16 or larger (your choice) will follow with a provided reference, where varied brushwork will be employed (Intermediate, and repeat, students are welcome to bring in personal projects at any time. We will also have an outdoor plein air, session, weather permitting.  Acrylics and water soluble oils are welcome.
