A good painting is more than the sum of its parts. A combination of factors lead to a painting’s success: a consistent flow of light, a strong composition, accurate draftsmanship, value, color and temperature among other elements. Together,
lost and found edges create still another component of a quality painting: some
edges are soft and ‘lost’ to shadow, and some edges are hard and ‘found’ in the
light. All of one or the other and the painting loses form. Learn how to recognize lost and found edges and bring your painting to the next level!
In this class, you can paint from a still life set-up, a quality reference with a strong light and shadow pattern or develop a plein air sketch. Emphasis will be on your work and the painting process through doing. Demonstrations individual to you will also take place.
*Some experience suggested.
Highlights include:
*Discussion of Proper Materials and how to use them
* Developing Organizational Skills
* How to apply paint to achieve the desired effect
* The process of mixing the right color and value
