Trees are a beautiful and essential focus of many landscape paintings, but can be challenging to draw and paint.  In this 3 week class we will focus on the basics of drawing and painting trees and how to place them in a pleasing composition with an understanding of light and shadows.  We will help students to understand perspective when drawing deciduous and coniferous trees including distant masses of trees, trees in the foreground, and how to depict tree trunks, branches and leaves during each season. In the spirit of the holidays, students can create a painting or card depicting snow covered pines, or any tree depicting the beauty of the changing seasons.

Class includes instructor demos in oil and watercolor and individual instruction.  Weather permitting we will practice sketching outdoors at Florence Griswold grounds and at Lyme Art Association.  Bring sketchbooks, pencils, charcoal for drawing, or any other pens/markers for sketching.

Class good for all levels of painters.
