Hope Is the Thing with Feathers
2024 Young Artist Show
On View: June 7 – July 18, 2024
Young artists, ages 5 to 18, interpreted the beloved poem, Hope Is a Thing With Feathers, by Emily Dickinson. The young artists delved into the rich imagery of the poem, exploring its themes of hope, resilience, and the boundless possibilities that take flight. Artists were encouraged to respond to the poem by creating artworks that featured our feathered friends, the joys of flying through the air, or any other creative responses that emerged.
"Hope Is the Thing with Feathers" by Emily Dickinson
“Hope” is the thing with feathers -That perches in the soul - And sings the tune without the words - And never stops - at all - And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard - And sore must be the storm - That could abash the little Bird That kept so many warm - I’ve heard it in the chillest land - And on the strangest Sea - Yet - never - in Extremity, It asked a crumb - of me.
