This two day workshop is for artists who like to tell a visual story with figures or animals while adding drama and movement to our art. Working from our photographs, we will explore how to use our references to create a narrative. All paint mediums are welcome, but Pastel and techniques in pastel will be the focus.
***Ahead of this workshop through an email exchange, Karen will review and advise each artist on their reference(s) choice and answer questions about specific paper types/color.
- You will learn tips about photographing for a story.
- You will learn how to ‘read’ your photograph and how to compose your narrative.
- You will learn the principles of design and how this can enhance the emotional aspect of the narrative.
- You will learn the general principles of drawing a clothed figure within a setting.
Karen will do a short demo discussing composition and layout of shapes using a wet medium to begin.
