This four-day immersive workshop focuses on painting floral still lifes in oil from life, offering students a range of options to suit individual interests and experience levels. Students may choose to work from fresh, simple florals—indoors or en plein air—or from richer, more classical floral arrangements in Lyme Art Association’s historic north light studio.
Using a clear, simplified alla prima process refined over 18 years, students will learn to create fresh, painterly paintings with strong light, depth, and form. Participants may choose to work
directly (wet-into-wet in a single session) or indirectly, developing a painting over two sessions on a dry surface.
With daily demonstrations, extended painting time, and individual instruction, this workshop offers a focused and supportive environment for in-depth exploration—enabling each student to work at their own pace and level.
This workshop is ideal for painters who want to:
● Immerse themselves in painting florals from life
● Choose between indoor or outdoor painting environments
● Work from simple or more complex floral setups
● Explore both direct and indirect oil painting approaches
● Develop stronger, more confident finished paintings
All levels welcome.
