Judith Selleck Chapman was born in Hartford, CT in 1943. She grew up in Newington, CT and spent many summers with family at Point O’ Woods beach colony in South Lyme. Judith earned a BFA degree from the University of Hartford, at the Hartford Art School. She works in several mediums including oil, watercolor, pastel and also does some sculpture pieces. She enjoys painting a wide variety of subject matter. Her work is in many private collections. As well as Connecticut, she has lived in California, Cape Cod and Vermont.
Judith has been a member of the Lyme Art Association since 1997 serving in many capacities there over the years including the being Vice President, a gallery manager, a board member for several years and a member of the Artistic Policy Committee. To further her education she has taken many workshops and classes with noted artists including courses at The Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. She was in the first group of artists to paint a decorative palette, which is kept in the private collection of the Florence Griswold Museum.
